Wellbeing Support

Positive mental health in young people, creates better opportunities for them to produce high quality work at school, and reach their potential in final exams. Just as importantly, positive mental heath including a healthy sense of self in young adulthood, promotes physical health, increases positive decision making, resilience and healthy relationships in adulthood.

At Abbeywood Community School Post 16, we are committed to embedding a culture of belonging and community, that allows students to feel safe to create positive relationships with peers and staff, and engage well with their studies. We value student voice and do our best to implement changes that benefit the young peoples learning and social experiences, making our Post 16 Centre a place that our students want to be.

As Post 16 Student Support, it is my job to review student attendance and notice patterns that may indicate a student or family need additional support. I provide support by enlisting the help of teaching and pastoral staff at Abbeywood Community School, and provide bookable wellbeing meetings where students have protected time to share what’s on their mind. If necessary I will signpost or refer to external services that can provide more specialised help.
