Rules, Procedures and Processes
IT Access
Students who join us from Abbeywood or another Olympus centre retain their user account and associated email address. If joining Abbeywood from another school, a user account is generated for you on 1 September of the academic year you join. This gives you access to email, printing, Google Classroom and other digital services.
Access to computers is provided at both the Engineering Centre and main Abbeywood site. However, students are welcome to bring laptops, tablets or other personal devices into Post 16 to support their learning. However, these items are brought onto site at the student’s own risk, and Abbeywood Community School cannot accept responsibility for any loss, theft or damage to personal devices while on school premises.
Mobile Phones
Abbeywood is a phone-free school. Students in Key Stages 3 and 4 are required to secure their mobile phones in Yondr pouches throughout the school day. While Yondr pouches are not used in Post 16, we expect our students to act as positive role models and use mobile phones responsibly. Phones should remain out of sight during the school day and should only be used in designated Post 16 common room areas, away from younger students, or when specifically directed by a member of staff as part of a learning activity. This helps to maintain a focused learning environment and supports our wider culture of respect and professionalism.
Student Drivers and Parking
Students who have passed their driving test and travel to Post 16 by car are permitted to use either the Engineering Centre (EC) car park or the Abbeywood overflow car park. Driving to sixth form brings additional responsibility, and students are expected to drive safely, considerately and in accordance with all traffic regulations both on and around the school site. Particular care should be taken when entering and leaving the car parks, as large numbers of students, staff and visitors may be moving around the site. Any unsafe or inconsiderate driving may result in parking privileges being withdrawn.
Dress Code
Students are required to dress appropriately and have a duty to set a good example to pupils in the main school. All decisions relating to dress code ultimately lie with the Post 16 Team. Lanyards must be worn and be visible at all times. The cost for a replacement lanyard is £5.
