Year 9 Pathways Evening Wednesday 8 January 6 - 7:30 p.m.
Year 9 Students will soon begin the process of making decisions about which courses and qualifications they can take at Key Stage 4 (KS4). The process is supported by a range of different activities that will help students to think carefully about the decisions which are key to their success in the future.
The most important event is a Pathways Information Evening on Wednesday 8 January from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. There will be a presentation about the Pathways process in the main hall at 6:15 p.m. and an opportunity to discuss specific subjects with teaching staff in our ‘subject marketplace’.
The talk in the hall will also address progress reports, the new GCSE curriculum as well as looking forward to the opportunities available at Post 16.
We will discuss all of the important aspects of the Pathways process, but in the meantime it is important that parents engage with their son/daughter at home and discuss three specific aspects with them. These are:
- What subjects do they enjoy at school?
- What are they good at?
- What career aspirations (if any) do they have at this point?
It is our expectation that all students in Year 9 attend the Pathways evening. If you are unable to attend, please contact us so that an alternative time can be arranged to discuss your son’s/daughter’s Pathway choices.
