Press and Media Interest

You may have read our communication earlier this week about the financial pressures faced by our schools for 2017 and beyond, ones that are shared by the vast majority of secondary schools in South Gloucestershire and elsewhere in the country.

The original update is here alongside an update and a template letter that we asked parents to share with our MP, Jack Lopresti at jack.lopresti.mp@parliament.uk.

Our communication has received a significant amount of press coverage. As with any contentious issue, the information reported has ranged from sensationalist and inaccurate to balanced and fair. Thank you to all our parents who have been in touch and the overwhelming support for our staff and students.

Please refer to this website for updates as unfortunately media reporting is not always accurate.

BBC news are covering the story this afternoon. Steve Moir, Headteacher at BSCS,is being interviewed along with some parents and students. We expect that this may appear on this evening’s local news. We will endeavour to let you know as soon as we do!

We will shortly be sharing an online petition that voices our concerns over the funding of South Gloucestershire schools for 2017 and beyond with the aim of raising awareness and encouraging a resolution for the young people in our care. We would be grateful for your support.

In the meantime please be assured that our focus remains on providing the very best education for all the young people within The Olympus Academy Trust.  Our schools are thriving, purposeful places to learn and we fully expect this to continue for the long-term.
