Covid-19 testing and school reopening plans

We are sure you are aware all secondary schools have been instructed to ensure students take part in three lateral flow tests in school. The overview schedule for testing students is as follows:

We propose to start the lateral flow testing of students on Thursday 4 March with students in Years 10-13, followed by students in Years 7-9 on Friday 5 March. Students will be invited to come into school in staggered 20 minute blocks with their tutor group. The year group time slots are as follows:

A = 8:30-10:30am (no lessons p1-2)

B = 10:30am-12:30pm (no lessons p2-4)

C = 1-3pm (no lessons p4-5)

All staff will be in school from the week commencing 8 March to deliver live remote lessons with key workers’ children and vulnerable students re-joining their timetabled lessons. No learning will be set for the students when they are expected in school for their lateral flow tests. If students have any spare time either side of coming into school for their lateral flow tests they should use this to finish off any learning tasks previously set throughout the term. The specific time slots (staggered 20 minutes apart) for are as follows:

So, for example, if you child is in 10Y they should come into school at 11:10am on Thursday 4 (test 1), Monday 8 (test 2) and Thursday 11 March (test 3).

All students will then return to school on Monday 15 March and carry on with self-administered lateral flow tests twice weekly at home. If any student tests positive for Covid-19 from the lateral flow tests administered at home they need to stay at home and book a confirmatory PCR test.
