Abbeywood students celebrate excellent GCSE results

Abbeywood Community School has a strong track record of academic excellence and this year, despite the difficulties faced, is no different. Students have achieved incredibly well across the full range of GCSE and Level 2 qualifications, outcomes have been strong but so has the progress of our students from their starting points. Students have responded positively to the dedication of staff and we are delighted that students have gained some outstanding results. Students will be continuing at Abbeywood or leaving for new destinations with academic success and as bright, mature and responsible young people. Ben Dilley, Associate Headteacher said, ´We are extremely proud of our Year 11 students and all that they have achieved during their time at Abbeywood Community School. This has been an incredibly challenging year for them, given the unprecedented circumstances of the Covid-19 pandemic and the disruption to their two years of GCSE studies. Students have been courageous and resilient in their learning, attributes that will undoubtedly contribute to their future success. It is important to recognise the excellent support from families and the dedication from our teaching and support staff, who work relentlessly to provide the highest standard of education and wellbeing support and who have been instrumental in raising student aspirations.

They have worked hard on their studies throughout their time at Abbeywood and have also developed as well-rounded, confident and positive young people. They have continued to astound us with their positivity and relentless drive to succeed. I would like to congratulate them and look forward to September, when most will return to our sixth form, when we will also be welcoming lots of students from other schools too!”
