AIRBUS Youth Foundation Programme 2023-24
We would like to let you know about an exciting opportunity open to all our current Y8 students for next academic year.
As you may know, last week, Y8 had an assembly from Airbus launching their annual Foundation Youth Programme. Our students are very lucky as Airbus selected Abbeywood Community School as the only school in Bristol and South Gloucestershire to take part.
The AFY Programme is Airbus Foundation’s flagship youth development programme. It aims to inspire young people to continue their education, find their professional vocation and realise their dreams.
An intensive industry, employability and skill building programme will run with 20 Year 9 students, AFYP comprises of 17-20 workshops, all held at Airbus Filton over the course of an academic year. Employees from Airbus are trained and mentor the students through a series of activities which immerse them in the aviation industry and challenge them to complete a complex design and build project.
In addition, work and employability skills are introduced, used and reviewed. Students benefit from being in a real-life workplace and working alongside and building relationships with employees.
- 100% of students had a clearer view of their future
- 100% of students improved their confidence and self-esteem
- 100% of students have an increased knowledge and first-hand experience of the workplace
- 50% of students increased their engagement in school and in learning
The programme will take place one afternoon each week for 20 weeks from 2:00-5:00pm. A member of ACS staff will accompany the students each week and transportation to and from school will be organised by us.
As there are only 20 places, students will need to apply by submitting a covering letter and their CV to Mrs Rouet via firstname.lastname@example.org by Wednesday the 28th of June. More details about the covering letter and CV are in the attached presentation.
