Abbeywood Community School

Key Stage 3 (Years 7-9)

Students in Year 7, 8 and 9 study a wide breadth of subjects in Key Stage 3. With access to first class learning facilities, students will use their first 3 years of secondary school to build and expand upon their Key Stage 2 learning. Students will experience challenging learning opportunities underpinned by the school’s curriculum principles.

In order to prepare our students for the demands of GCSE exams, students will be given assessments that are closely mapped against GCSE objectives. Feedback from these assessments will be used to plan lessons and tasks set through Arbor. Independent Home Learning will be set regularly in order to enhance class room learning and to help develop a culture of independence in our Key Stage 3 students.

Managing the right to withdraw

In line with the Education Act, parents have the legal right to withdraw their child from all or part of Religious Studies education. Any parent wishing to exercise this right should make their request in writing to the Headteacher.
The school will respect these decisions and discuss with parents how the withdrawal will be managed to ensure that pupils remain appropriately supervised. All Religious Studies teaching is delivered with respect for the backgrounds, beliefs, and values of all pupils and their families.
