Internal Post-16 Applicants
Students in Year 11 at Abbeywood, or any other Olympus Academy Trust secondary school, will complete their application during a one-to-one interview with a member of staff in Terms 3 and 4. There’s no need for students or parents/carers to fill out a form - we guide every student to choose the courses that suit them best.
How can you help your child in advance of this meeting?
Discuss the range of courses on offer, including those that are offered at other Olympus centres, and ensure that they are clear on what the minimum entry criteria are for these subjects. There is an expectation that students will achieve at least 5 good pass grades, including English Language and Maths to study A levels or the equivalent level of vocational course. As well as this, each course will have individual entry requirements for their courses of choice.
Deciding which subjects to study can be difficult, below is a list of some things to consider:
- Do you have a particular career in mind that requires you to have studied a certain subject?
- What do you enjoy studying?
- What sort of learning suits you best?
- What type of assessment do you prefer? Coursework or exams?
- If you are hoping to go to University is there a requirement to take certain subjects at A level
