As an internal student already attending Abbeywood, you will complete your application form in your January Interview with the Director of Post 16. If you are an external student you can apply to Abbeywood Community School Post 16 using the application form on this website. We offer many of our courses in collaboration with other centres as part of the Concorde Partnership. This allows many of our students to access a wide range of academic subjects designed to suit their future needs.

When completing your application form we would like you to have a conversation with your home school subject teachers. Getting an insight into a course will help you make an informed choice about your final choices.

Interview

After your application is submitted we will contact you to inform you of an interview date (January / February). For external applicants we will be as flexible as possible and are happy to arrange the interview after school hours. Parents are more than welcome to attend if you wish.

Don’t worry too much about the interview! It is an opportunity for us to find out about you and what you enjoy studying at GCSE. We like to make sure students are making a fully informed choice regarding their future.

During the interview we will talk you through the option blocks and entry requirements (see above). Also, we will discuss expectations that will be expected of you as an Abbeywood Post 16 student but also as a Concorde Post 16 student.

The interview is also a great opportunity to ask us questions about the courses and what life as a Post 16 student will involve. We are not trying to catch anyone out and we aim to make the interview process an informative session regarding a student’s future.

After the interview we will send you a letter with the details from the interview such as;

  • What courses you have chosen
  • Expectations of being a Post 16
  • Next steps in the admissions process

Later in the year we will invite you in for a taster day in June / July. This day is just a taste of what Post 16 study and life will be like. We hope to make the day informative and fun as we can.

Then finally in August during GCSE results day we will sit down with students and discuss their final choices before finally students start their studies in September.

We look forward to your application and meeting you at interview!
